How to create an ICC profile using
RAW images and Adobe Camera RAW

ACR is part of Adobe Photoshop and a popular way to process RAW images.
Unfortunately ACR doesn't support camera ICC profiles directly, so we are using them in Photoshop after the development.

Whitebalance & Exposure
ACR Whitebalance and Exposure

After opening your RAW file within ACR,

  • change to the «Whitebalance Tool»
  • click on one of the white patches of the «ColorChart» and
  • adjust the exposure to a value between RGB 235 and RGB 245.

ACR Settings

Click on the link at the status bar of ACR to open the panel of the

Workflow Options

Select ACR output color space.
You have the choice between the follwing working spaces:

  • Adobe RGB
  • ColorMatch RGB
  • ProPhoto RGB
  • sRGB
We do not recommend a certain colorspace, because the choice depends on your camera model.

From a technical point of view you should take a large colorspace like ProPhoto RGB, but we had our best results with Adobe RGB and sRGB.

ACR Settings

Saving the Image
ACR Save Image Click on the button «Save Image ...» on the bottom left of ACR.
