How to create an ICC profile using
RAW images and RAW Developer
»RAW Developer« is a high grade application to develop your RAW images to TIFF, JPEG and may more file formats.
It is well-known for its quality and professional features.
»RAW Developer« is one of our recommended applications for MAC useres, to get an ICC save workflow for:
RAW -> Camera Input ICC -> TIFF/JPEG Working Space

|
Setting up the Preferences of
»RAW Developer«
If you are working with one fixed workingspace, do the following settings:
- Override individual settings file options
- Use Output Profile
- Your RGB working space (sRGB, Adobe RGB, ECI ....)
- Best
- Perceptual
Push the »OK« button
|
Open Image
|
|
Open your RAW image with the capture of your »ColorChart«
in »RAW Developer«
|
Settings for Reference Export
|
|
In this step, we are preparing the export of the reference shot.
- Disable all processing
except colormatrix, tonecurve, exposure
and white balance.
- Activate the »White Balance Tool« and click on one
of the white patches on the ColorChart
- Adjust the exposure to a value between
RGB 235 and RGB 245.
Only minor adjustments should be made for the exposure.
For a high quality Input ICC profile, the capture of your ColorChart should be of a good exposure!
|
Start saving the Image
|
|
Click on »Process Image and Save As«
at the »File Menu«
|
|
The »Process Image and Save As« Panel
|
|
- Select »JPEG« as your output file format
- Take a compression with good output quality
- Select a meaningfull output size.
We need about 20x20 pixels per color patch
You would not get a better Input Camera Profile, just because of a larger file. You only have to wait longer during the file upload to our »Online Profiler«.
Push the »Save« button
|

The Result
|
|
Your results are images with a high quality rendering from RAW
and a true color matching through our »Input Camera ICC Profiles« to your RGB working space.
Congratulations!
Don't forget to make a meaningfull Output ICC for your
Printer -> Ink -> Paper combination
to transfer the quality from your captures to the printouts.
