colorxact on the HP booth in paris HP and colorXact exert themselves

for true color and repeatable workflow
of digital images

Paris, 05. October 2007

Already since the Apple Expo in Paris (Sept. 25th until 29th 2007) and officially since the Salon de la Photo in Paris (Oct.3rd until 7th, 2007) HP France is exclusively offering until Dec. 31st, 2007 to all French Photosmart Pro B9180 or Designjet Z-Series customers a special bundel:

With the purchase of one of the mentioned printers the customer gets a colorXact ColorChart size M and 25 profilation units for online profilation on the colorXact Portal.

While Z-Series printer already include an internal profilation system, HP is now closing the Missing Link with digital image profiles. From the beginning of the workflow, an ICC profile can be attached to the digital image and true colors can be printed on the printer.

The additional feature fits perfectly to the HP "DreamColor" focus, a true color workflow. The target of HP is clearly to gain new customers within the market for image printing.

HP presents colorXact series Z: the "digital photo enhancer"

An original solution to view photos directly with precise colors without having to systematically touch up

ISSY LES MOULINEAUX, OCTOBER 3 2007 - HP announces a partnership for France with the German ColorXact company taking the form of a commercial offer and the promotion of the ColorXact solution for its large format HP Designjet Series Z printers and the A3+ HP Photosmart Pro B9180 photo printer on its stand at Salon de la Photo.

colorXact: the "digital photo enhancer"
With ColorXact, HP offers customers an original and innovative solution to the problem of color consistency throughout the graphic chain by integrating an additional link in the photographic process.
ColorXact, developed by Bavarian engineering, provides a solution to the colorimetry of digital photographs by offering a digital camera profiling solution which takes into account any type of light involved.

ColorXact delivers an ICC profile by the internet. Its originality lies in taking into account the colorimetric  parameters of the digital camera (regardless of its brand) and the light conditions in which the series of photos is taken. This ICC filter, applied to these photos, is used to view all shots, using Adobe Photoshop for example, with the "true colors" of the photograph's environment.
This solution in particular avoids having to touch up the color parameters of individual photos in difficult lighting conditions where simple balancing of cameras is usually insufficient. It also corrects tones inherent to the features of the camera's sensors.

How does it work?
The generation of this specific ICC profile is obtained by combining color guidelines specially designed by ColorXact and an associated internet service which calculates and delivers the profile.
This original solution is very simple to implement:
Stage 1: a first shot is taken of the subject by integrating the guidelines into the shot (regardless of their orientation ) then starting the "normal" shoot.
Stage 2: the photo taking on board the guidelines is sent to the ColorXact website.

Stage 3: the site returns the ICC profile of the camera and lighting conditions associated with the shot.
Stage 4: the ICC profile is applied in Adobe Photoshop.
Stage 5: the whole series of photos taken in the lighting conditions given is directly viewable with "true" colors.

For the purchase of an HP Designjet Series Z or HP Photosmart Pro B9180HP, HP offers free guidelines and the downloading of 25 profiles to the ColorXact website: http://www.colorxact.eu

This is part of the momentum described at the PMA 2007 with the HP Dreamcolor concept which consists in offering image professionals software and hardware that adjusts colorimetry and color consistency during the different stages in the life of an image.
